The culprits

Yesterday I had a particularly  busy day. Apart from the usual morning home activities, with kids and ALL the pets,  I had  to get ready to go out for an appointment which I thought was only going to take up about two hours of my day but instead ended up going on for almost five hours!! Worst yet, I have been lamenting the fact that my closet is full of lovely heeled shoes. Shoes of various styles, colors and  heights and they are all sitting there lined up in the “museum” part of  my closet. I cannot wear these shoes any longer due to the pain they cause to my hips and ankles (Lupus)… Every now and then I dare to wear them but it must be for no longer than… say, two hours and I always carry a flat pair of shoes with me to change into.

Back to yesterday– I was lamenting the shoes- So I decided to grab a pair, dusted it off, NO I’m not kidding, and I went on my way. They looked so nice…  an hour and a half  later I wanted to throw them in the first garbage can I saw!!  However I did not have my flats handy smiley cry Laments Of A Shoe Museum and The Aftermath . I left these in my truck, this is LA, Parking was a couple of blocks out. It would be worse to go for the flats than to take the agony for what I figure could be no mere than another hour!! YEAH RIGHT… Swelling, cramping  and numbing sensations by the time I made it home. Yes I know, it was MY fault… I will take comfort in knowing that I wore the heels for FIVE hours, which I have not done in I don’t remember how long and I think I am allowed to say ‘I looked good’, haha… smiley wink Laments Of A Shoe Museum and The Aftermath

I am guessing I need a larger purse to carry my flats in next time I dare wear anything with a heel. AFTER I (my body) heal from this little miss-hap; ouch…

My Brother and I 1982

Today I find my self missing my little brother. I had been thinking about him a lot lately because it was his birthday earlier this week and I had it in my mind that I would call him and wish him a happy birthday. We do not live in the same city and therefore do not get to see each other that often. I did not call him early in the day, it was a Monday I figured he was working; I had also gotten a late start that day and I figured I would catch him when he was home in time for dinner and this way I could talk with him and there would be no hurry. I was getting dinner started myself when I gave him a call. He answered, “Happy birthday!” I said into the speaker. “Thank you” he responded. After that there were awkward moments of silence broken here and there only by few tidbits of conversation which felt as though two complete strangers were engaging in.

Sorry Lupus, You Will Have To Wait…

Woke up this morning with enough energy to go for a power walk and it so happened luck was on my side – It was cool and cloudy this morning on my side of the globe smiley laughing Sorry Lupus, You Will Have To Wait.... Just how my skin likes it to be when I have to spend time outdoors, if I don’t want to tote around that umbrella (lupus thing). I called out for the kids who to my surprise were a little apprehensive about the idea. It didn’t last long, that is I gave them the alternative of cleaning their bathroom, and they were back in their rooms getting their shoes and in no time back to the living roomsmiley wink Sorry Lupus, You Will Have To Wait... . They decided they would ride their bikes and I still simply wanted my walk…

Why some people do the things they do… I can’t find time in my day to do the USEFUL, meaningful things on my list!  I gather for some people these are meaningful things; either that or they have nothing better to do than spread rumors and lies to the masses via e-mail. The worst part about all of this is when some media personalities take the information and then, without checking the source or confirming it’s validity, make the situation worse, even yet, by broadcasting it over the air.

My Wolf (My lupus story)

Hello there, I guess this is where I tell a little about my self, regarding lupus and how I got to know her, so here goes a little bit of my life story. I am 34 years old currently living in sunny southern California with my husband and two boys. I simply LOVE the winters here as soon as the weather channel announces  it will be 80 degrees or higher I want to run for Main! Maybe Seattle would do… I have a severe allergy to the sun, amongst other things, due to my SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus). Sure the cold bothers my joints ,sometimes, but nowhere nearly as much as the sun and heat bother and aggravate my lupus symptoms. Move? Love to, as soon as my husband can acquire a ‘position of choice’ at a less sunny, more ‘vampiric‘ like  place smiley undecided My Wolf (My lupus story).

I have had Lupus all my life and was not diagnosed until 2006 at UCLA department of rheumatology. It was believed that Lupus was predominant in women ages 17 to 34. I was one woman to prove them wrong on that age theory.  It is now known that kids, men and women may fall ‘victim’ to lupus.

It was very difficult, first for my mother, a single parent taking care of a child who would get ill and be in pain with low grade fevers; Some weeks better some weeks worse, some days not sick at all and the doctors were clueless.

Off To See a Judge Tomorrow – Yikes!

Court 300x192 Off To See a Judge Tomorrow Yikes! I am a little bit nervous today because tomorrow morning my husband and I are due in court due to a ticket we were given on new years eve 09′.  No we were not speeding, drinking, or running a stop sign;  in fact we were leaving the Trader Joe’s parking lot with our boys in the truck (SUV), on our way home for our first ever family only new years eve all nigher (which turned out great, by the way). The officer pulled us over and walked over to the window flashlight in hand. My husband, who was driving, asked “Is there something wrong?” He though there might be a light out or something like that. The young officer asked for our registration and for his license and then answered “Your windows. They are tinted.”

Is There a Baby Chicken in My Eggs?

Posted on : 21-05-2010 | By : MaiGrove | In : Interesting Facts & Things, Some of my stories

This morning I made the boys eggs, scrambled, for breakfast. As I was braking the eggshells and emptying them into the frying pan,  the little one asks me “Is there a baby chicken in any of those eggs?” Of course I know there is no baby chicken in the eggs so I immediately answer “No.”  He is quite picky when it comes to eating already, the last thing I need is for him to start wondering about such things as chickens in eggs. However Little One is not satisfied with my answer. He continues with “I thought chickens laid eggs to have babies. So how do you know that there wasn’t  going to be a baby chicken in that egg and now we are going to eat it?” There I stood in front of the stove, spatula in hand not really knowing what to say. I tried my best to answer the question to the best of my knowledge, but that was not good enough for ether one of us.
